Free Funded Childcare Places

Funded childcare at Bexley Bears
We accept funded early education places for eligible children.
Funding rules can feel complicated, so here’s a clear overview—and we’re always happy to help you work out what you can claim.
What you may be able to get (England)
Working parents (9 months to 4 years)
Eligible working parents in England can receive up to 30 hours per week for 38 weeks per year (you may be able to “stretch” hours over more weeks, depending on availability)
Two-year-olds (additional support/“disadvantaged” entitlement)
Some 2-year-olds can access 15 funded hours if families meet certain criteria (for example, specific benefits or additional support).
All 3 and 4-year-olds (universal entitlement)
Most children receive 15 funded hours (term time), and some families qualify for additional hours depending on eligibility.
How to apply (Bexley)
Bexley Council provides funded childcare guidance and the application route (including “Play 2 Learn” funding for eligible 2-year-olds).
If you’re not sure where you fit, contact the Bexley early years team or Contact us— we’ll point you in the right direction.
What you might still pay for
Children accessing 15 or 30 funded hours incur no extra charges. We invite families to make a voluntary contribution of £30 per term, which helps us provide snacks and resources for all children.
